Green Day will headline the MTV World Stage Seville to close out #MTVMusicWeek on the Plaza de España on Nov. 2. The show will take place just before the 2019 MTV EMAs in Seville, which will take place at the FIBES Conference & Exhibition Center the next night.

The Becky G-hosted show will find Ariana Grande vying for seven awards, including bids for best artist, best song, best video, best pop and best live. Just behind with six noms each are Shawn Mendes, Lil Nas X and Billie Eilish, with J Balvin racking up five and Taylor Swift and Lizzo each earning four.

Green Day, who earned the MTV EMA Global Icon award in 2016, will release their new album, Father of All…, on Feb. 7 via Reprise/Warner Records.

Former Temptations Singer David Ruffin to Be Honored in Mississippi Hometown

One Mississippi city promises there will be sunshine on Oct. 26, even if it’s a cloudy day. That’s the day Meridian will honor the late David Ruffin, one of the lead singers of the Motown group The Temptations. He sang the hit “My Girl,” that included that sunny lyric.

The Meridian Star reports the city will add signs ceremonially naming four blocks of a downtown street “David Ruffin Boulevard.” Born in nearby rural Whynot, Ruffin claimed Meridian as home.

Mississippi’s Arts + Entertainment Experience will also place Ruffin’s star on its walk of fame, while Jackson State University’s marching band, the “Sonic Boom of the South,” will lead a parade. LaMont Robinson, head of the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame and Ruffin’s son-in-law, presented the idea to Meridian.
