First Country is a compilation of the best new country songs, videos and albums that dropped this week.

Countless EPs and all-star collaborations were released Friday (Sept. 13). HARDY dropped his standout Hixtape Vol. 1, which includes 10 tracks of features including everyone from Cole Swindell, Dustin Lynch and Thomas Rhett to Trace Adkins, Joe Diffie and Tracy Lawrence. Additionally, in promotion of her new Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour launching tonight, Miranda Lambert shared a cover of “Fooled Around and Fell In Love” featuring Maren Morris, Elle King, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes and Caylee Hammack.

Here are several projects to spin this weekend.

Emily Hackett, By the Moon

Emily Hackett bares her soul on the reflective EP By the Moon. Led by latest single “Easy,” which tells the story of a woman who struggles with her decisions during a relationship, the singer-songwriter provers her ability at capturing the listener’s attention wholeheartedly. Hackett’s confessional lyrics and haunting vocals remain at the forefront of the project as can be heard on standout songs like the soulful gospel-infused number “Worth the Weight” and heartbreaking piano ballad “Gave Him Away.”

HARDY, Hixtape Vol. 1

HARDY released one of the most ambitious projects of the year so far with his feature-heavy Hixtape Vol. 1. A who’s-who release of country legends, up-and-coming acts and contemporary radio mainstays, the versatile album spans genre lines with hip-hop leaning songs like “He Went to Jared” featuring Morgan Wallen and “Boy From the South“ with Swindell and Lynch, and backroad jams like “What They Make Backroads For” including Lawrence and Jake Owen and “No Place Like Hometown” with Keith Urban and Hillary Lindsey.

Kip Moore, „She’s Mine“

Kip Moore lets his fun side shine through in the feel-good new video for his latest single “She’s Mine.” Whether he’s in the laundromat learning some dance moves from a few older women or driving around town in his pickup truck, the singer is all smiles in the lighthearted video and his energy is infectious.

Lainey Wilson, Redneck Hollywood

Lainey Wilson teamed up with producer Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Little Big Town) for her first EP on BBR Music Group’s Broken Bow Records. A rollicking four-tracks that include the foot-stomping drinking song “Straight Up Sideways” and redneck anthem “LA,” Redneck Hollywood also shows Wilson’s sensitive side and knack at penning intriguing storylines as heard on the clever love song “Dirty Looks” and the reflective “Things A Man Oughta Know.”

Miranda Lambert, “Fooled Around and Fell In Love”

Lambert takes fans into the studio on her memorable cover of Elvin Bishop’s “Fooled Around and Fell In Love.” Featuring powerhouse vocals from all the women on her Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour including Morris, King, McBryde, Townes and Hammack, the cover is a reminder of the undeniable female talent with the genre. Lambert’s Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour launches tonight at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

“The girls on the Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour can sing their asses off,” Lambert said in a statement. “There’s something crazy about seeing these artists with a new fire in their eyes. It reignites your own flame. I’m so excited to watch them every night on tour.”

Old Dominion, “Midnight Mess Around“

Old Dominion showcase their soul on the throwback “Midnight Mess Around.” Frontman Matthew Ramsey’s sultry vocals are highlighted alongside glimmering electric guitar and a seductive beat on the latest new song off their forthcoming self-titled third studio album due out Oct. 25.

Watch Mxmtoon’s Music Video for ‘Fever Dream’

Mxmtoon is having a fever dream, and we’ve all feeling a bit fragile.

The Brooklyn-based, Oakland-native’s new song „Fever Dream“ dropped at midnight, along with a super-cute clip featuring home videos of the artist as a school kid performing on stage. She’s clearly no newcomer to showbiz.

The 19-year-old singer and songwriter (who also goes by her real name Maia) is coming off a breakthrough year in which she released her debut full-length album The Masquerade, released a graphic novel to accompany it, The Adventures of Mxmtoon: The Masquerade, and embarked on a sold-out North American tour. Her 2018 debut EP blossom clocked up more than 100 million plays on Spotify alone, and she went on to join forces with the streaming giant on a new podcast series

There’s more music coming. Maia is currently working on a pair of back-to-back EPs due out later this year, the first taste of which is “Fever Dream,” a calming, delicate observation of life and our place in the world.

“The day I wrote this song, I knew it meant the world to me,” she writes. “I’m beyond excited to share it with you all now and to finally allow it into the world for everyone’s ears. When thinking about the visualizer for ‘Fever Dream’ I thought basing it off of the cover art would be a good idea. compiling and editing home videos from my tiny human days was so much fun, but it also made me think.”

Read Mxmtoon’s thoughts on life in full below. And stream “Fever Dream.”
